Stressed at work? Guide yourself back to a place of paradise...
I sit with clients all day whom are stressed about work. It's not just that they don't like what they do, but moreover, how they are doing it. What i mean is that their minds are continuously on the "go". The lists pile up and get overwhelming...to do, to be, to go....etc. If you feel stressed and/or feeling like work is just not worthwhile...try these mindful exercise tips...
1) First, imagine yourself in your favorite place : this can be real or imaginary.
2) Close your EYES and begin to "sense", feel yourself at this location.
3) Use your senses to "get inside" yourself. For example, use your EYES to see what is around you. Are you looking at a sea, a village, your bedroom...where are you?
4) USE colors to closely examine your surroundings.
5) USE your NOSE....what do you SMELL? Is your favorite smell baking in the oven? Or perhaps by the seashore? the smell of salt? What about the smell of your favorite person?
6) Now, use your TASTE. Does the air, the trees, etc taste good? If you can't taste it, what would it feel like if you could?
7) Now, feel your body...what is the temperature outside? Inside? Where do you feel pleasure?
Using your SENSES are just one way to take a mini vacation inside yourself. This should not be tried at home....only during work. (:

Awareness, Consciousness, Being awake
Mindfulness is a not only a state of being, but also a state of AWARENESS. Being aware means that you are conscious enough to know that you are here, in the present. Consciousness has many implications, but to keep things simple, I will go by consciousness and "being conscious" to mean that we are awake and not in the middle of our sleeping cycle. We are awake, doing our jobs, tending to our family, buying groceries, etc. I realize many people might jump on this, but again, i am not speaking through any particular lens except the one i am using to try and help you understand this concept in a way that simplifies things.
When you sleep, you are in an altered state of consciousness. When you wake up, you are still, "here", but now you have entered a new state of consciousness called, being awake.
